Keep your smile healthy during the holiday season with these simple tips:
Tip no. 1: Brush your teeth more than twice.
If its a regular day, brushing your teeth just twice in a day may be sufficient. However, since you are eating lots of sweets, you may wish to brush it more often.
Consider bringing a toothbrush anytime you go to a celebration, so you can easily brush after eating. Otherwise, remember Tip No. 4 and Tip No. 5.
Tip no. 2: Choosing a toothbrush with soft bristles.
Use a toothbrush with soft bristles. If possible, buy one that is dentist recommended and has the ADA Seal of Acceptance, like the Philips Sonicare Toothbrush.
Stay away from toothbrushes with harder bristles because this can easily harm your gums. Moreover, avoid pressing too hard on your gums because it will not help in cleaning your teeth. Rather it will strip it of its enamel, which is not healthy.
Tip no. 3: See your dentist regularly.
Set a twice a year dental appointment. Never skip your routine oral exam and professional cleaning because this will most certainly save you from a lot of discomfort in the future.
If you feel anything weird with your gums or teeth, then you should immediately see them for a check-up.
Tip no. 4: Always carry a floss with you.
Bring a floss during holiday celebrations.
You may not be able to brush your teeth after that hearty meal with your friends, but with a handy floss, you can quickly get rid of that stuck food on your teeth. Now, you can confidently smile even after eating a feast.
Tip no. 5: Don’t graze on sweets for a long period.
You may eat two to three of these then chew a sugar-free gum after 20 minutes. This will help clean your teeth so you’ll have fewer sweets to clean when you brush. Most importantly, use a floss to ensure you have removed all the excess sugars and particles from your mouth.
